SUMMARY:Ocean Sciences Meeting 2022
DESCRIPTION:Co-sponsored by the American Geophysical Union (AGU)\, the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO)\, and The Oceanography Society (TOS)\, Ocean Sciences Meeting is the global leader in ocean sciences conferences. We are creating a meeting and networking  environment that provides opportunities for ocean scientists\, from those doing basic research to those working on solutions for the ocean we want\, to present and share knowledge as well as network and address emerging topics in ocean sciences. \nWhile many participants will physically gather in Honolulu\, the Program Committee anticipates a large global gathering to virtually attend online programming and events. The tradition of outstanding presentations and knowledge-sharing\, through plenary speakers\, in oral sessions\, and in serendipitous conversations\, will continue during OSM 2022.

SUMMARY:Potential Pioneer Relocation Innovations Lab Phase 1
DESCRIPTION:The Pioneer Array was designed as a moveable array. The OOI community has been invited to participate in the decision regarding the Pioneer Array’s future location.  Selection of a new OOI Pioneer Array location will be driven by community input on the important science questions that can be addressed with observations from a new Array location or maintaining it in its current location. The first of a two-phase Innovations Lab will bring together scientists\, educators\, and stakeholders to explore possible locations for the Pioneer Array. During the week of March 15-19\, interdisciplinary teams will work together to ideate and develop a roadmap of possible locations including exploring new scientific\, educational\, and partnership opportunities.

SUMMARY:Potential Relocation of Pioneer Array Phase I Innovations Lab
DESCRIPTION:NSF and OOIFB are hosting a two-phase innovations lab to consider possible new locations for the Pioneer Array. \nThe first Innovations Lab will bring together scientists\, educators\, and stakeholders to explore possible locations for the Pioneer Array. During the week of March 15-19\, interdisciplinary teams will work together to ideate and develop a roadmap of possible locations including exploring new scientific\, educational\, and partnership opportunities. Through the course of the week\, teams will form\, pitch\, and refine plans (based on input from experts and other participants). Participants will meet virtually each day of the week (M-F).  Four days will be for synchronous meetings and one day will be dedicated to asynchronous team work time.

SUMMARY:Dissolved Oxygen and Supporting Observations from the OOI Coastal Endurance Array Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Endurance Array team members Ed Dever\, Chris Wingard\, Stuart Pearce\, Craig Risien\, Jonathan Whitefield\, and Jon Fram will present dissolved oxygen (DO) data from the Ocean Observatories Initiative’s (OOI) Coastal Endurance Array off Oregon and Washington. DO is recorded on platforms across OOI.  These measurements contribute directly to the OOI science goal of understanding ecosystem changes. The Endurance Array measurements contribute specifically to understanding the seasonal development and synoptic variability of hypoxia.  DO measurement platforms on EA include moorings\, gliders\, and profilers. \nThe webinar was presented in four pre-recorded sections with a live Q and A following each section. It is available online here.  Part 1 is an overview of OOI DO measurements across OOI.  The remaining three parts covered surface mooring time series\, glider measurements\, and profiler measurements respectively.  For each of these platforms\, the sampling\,  quality control procedures and issues\, and  example plots were presented.  The webinar focused on recent data\, including telemetered data collected since the latest Endurance cruise in July 2020. \nFollow-up discussions on accessing these OOI data can be arranged by contact the OOI HelpDesk.

SUMMARY:OOI Deep Ocean Observing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will provide an interdisciplinary forum to develop deep ocean science questions and identify societal needs that could be addressed using the existing OOI infrastructure. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to gather detailed information about OOI infrastructure\, data availability\, and discuss existing and prospective Essential Ocean Variables that deep-water observatories can address. Particular attention will be paid to the capabilities and utility of the OOI Cabled Array. Two days of presentations and breakout groups will be followed by one day for drafting concepts and project outlines. \nExpected workshop outcomes may include identification of new cabled and stand-alone instrumentation and platforms needed to address Deep Ocean Observing Strategy goals and opportunities to leverage other regional ocean observing assets (e.g.\, the US Integrated Ocean Observing System – Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems\, Oceans Network Canada). Lessons learned from the experience of developing these assets could be discussed. This workshop will help build and expand the deep-ocean user community interested in the NE Pacific. \nClick here for more information.

SUMMARY:OceanHackWeek 2018
DESCRIPTION:5-day hands-on workshop aimed at exploring\, creating and promoting effective computation and analysis workflows for large and complex oceanographic data. The focus will be on data provided by the National Science Foundation’s Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI). Comparisons to other large-scale ocean observing assets\, such as Argo\, IOOS\, etc. are welcome and encouraged. \nClick here for more information. \nCheck out the OceanHackWeek website.

SUMMARY:Chemistry Early Career Data Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The OOI is hosting several workshops for early-career scientists interested in learning more about the OOI and how to use data from the program in their work. The workshops focus on the development of programming\, data analysis\, and evaluation skills. Overviews of the marine infrastructure and software tools maintained by the OOI will also be provided. \nEach workshop will focus on a specific oceanographic discipline\, and participants will become familiar with datasets and research opportunities available across the OOI. These discipline-based workshops are designed to inspire participants to pursue projects in geographical areas that they may not currently be focused on. This workshop will focus primarily on chemistry\, delving into Ocean biochemistry and the carbon cycle. \nClick here for more information. \nNote: Applications closed 15 March 2018.
