OOI low-frequency hydrophones (HYDLF) and seismometer data (OBSBB, OBSSP) are currently only hosted by IRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology: http://ds.iris.edu/ds/). Shipboard data collected during OOI deployment and recovery cruises are stored on the Alfresco document management system (Cruise Data Archive).

When a user submits a HelpDesk request for raw data that are not available on the NAS, the OOI cyberinfrastructure team will provide an alternate data delivery method:

  1. If the total request size is smaller than a threshold, (e.g., 500 Gb as initial value), the files will be loaded onto a dedicated staging area. The system should support at least 10 concurrent requests for < 500 GB of raw data. Staged data will be purged 7 days after the user is notified of delivery (as an initial value).
  2. If the request is larger than 500 Gb (as an initial value), users will be notified to deliver physical media of sufficient capacity and return address labels to the Rutgers CI (at user expense), to be returned no later than 1 month after the request (unless other arrangements are made). If a specific date range is not specified, the media will be filled to the maximum volume available, up to the most recent data as of the date when the media are received.
