Albert Plueddemann
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Dr. Plueddemann is responsible for the Coastal Global Scale Nodes (CGSN) portion of OOI, which includes the global ocean arrays in the Irminger Sea and Station Papa and the now decommissioned arrays in the Argentine Basin and Southern Ocean. Plueddemann helped design and execute and now oversees the operation of the Coastal Pioneer Array, which is at the shelf break front in the north Atlantic, and the implementation of the Global Scale Arrays. His research is multi-dimensional and interdisciplinary and includes the response of the upper ocean to surface forcing, the structure of the oceanic surface boundary layer, internal waves, Arctic and subarctic physical processes, and oceanographic instrumentation.
